Tin Can Bay Model Flying Club
We are situated on the left hand side of "Kidd Straight" on Rifle Fish Road just before the Country Club as you enter Tin Can Bay. Our facilities are comprehensive, including power, water and showers. Most significant, however, is the beautifully manicured and irrigated air strip with a covered flight preparation area and work tables. A covered charging station is available on the flight line for battery charging.
The club is but a short distance to some of the finest fishing and recreational areas in Queensland. There is something for the entire family to enjoy during or after flying events.
The Tin Can Bay Model Flying Club is approximately 42 years old. It started in about 1973/74 from a field on Teewah Creek Road where control line flying was conducted. From there it was moved to the field we now fly from. Les Reibel our club patron and Alan Kidd, along with others were the foundation members. These members were the driving force behind the facilities we have today. The club now has some fifty members ranging in age from teenagers to very active eighty year plus flyer's with a wealth of experience.
If you've ever wanted to have a go at flying or model building, drop by the club on one of our fly days (Sunday and Wednesday). Any member will gladly take the time to show off their planes, discuss how to become a pilot and generally talk your ear off about all things flying related. Yes, it's a lot of fun and fairly inexpensive to get involved.
